Famous people of Indian origin
I was reading lot of news headlines from past few years regarding people of Indian origin. At one instance its look really good to hear that people of Indian origin are becoming famous in all over world and they are taking up the highest positions in lot of organizations. We generally feel proud about those people after reading\listening that news. Of Course we should feel proud about them as they are spreading the name of INDIA all over the world.
But I was just thinking about the other side of this truth and immediately lot of questions come up in my mind like Why these people leave India and take up the citizenship of some other country? Do they really contributing anything great to India? Did they even come back to India? Why India is unable to give them opportunities in their respective fields? And how many times do they actually think about India and Indians?
You must have heard about the percentage on Indians working in the Silicon Valley and Indian people working in NASA. More than 50% of people there are Indians. You must have noticed the trend of Indians moving outside India after doing engineering, doctorate, MBA etc for getting better opportunities. And after getting better jobs and money they never turned back to India and in fact call their families also there. And after achieving something they will get free advertisements by Indian media. And create a big hype about those people and there achievements. If we take the example of Silicon Valley and NASA then why govt. fails to provide such great minds with such great opportunities here. This was mainly because bad govt. organizations and bad procedures of govt. We would have started our own Silicon Valley in India may be before Americans have because most of the pillars there are Indians only. And same is in the case of NASA.
There is no value of innovations and process of actually funding that innovation is not in place. If you look for starting a new company in India then the whole process can take somewhere between 2-3 months. And apart from this you have to handle various small to big officers by bribing them to move the file ahead. So if this is the case then people prefer to start the company in countries like Thailand, china etc where process in very fast.
If we see the entertainment side then lot of famous people in different countries is of Indian origin. You can take the example of deepa metha, Mira Nair, Norah Jones etc. These deepa Mehta had nominated her film from Canada in oscar. But story and shooting of that film is all belongs to India. If everything is Indian in it then why its released in Canada and was nominated in oscar from there and not from India. And after shortlisted in top 5 and Indian nomination was not in top five lists, media starts hyping the Indian origin concept.
There are lots of other people in different fields like novelist, politics, cricketers, businessman, astronaut etc. who have Indian name but they actually have no relation to India.
So my opinion is only this that media should stop creating the hype for people of Indian origin and concentrate more on promoting the indigenous things. I am not saying that these people are doing any thing wrong but it’s just a thought that they are not doing anything great for India and Indians. And my request to those people is that please take time to visit your so called origin country and contribute to solve big problems of this country to make it self dependent and keep India ahead to become super power.
